The Lynchburg Area Math Circle is a monthly enrichment program for motivated high school students who love problem solving, exploration, and discovering beautiful ideas in mathematics. Sessions focus on interactive, hands-on activities rather than lectures, and are designed to be welcoming to students with a wide range of backgrounds.

Who Can Join?

High school students (grades 9–12) who are curious about mathematical ideas, enjoy puzzles, or want to deepen their problem-solving skills. No competition experience or advanced coursework required.

Meeting Schedule

  • When: Spring 2026 Meetings: January 11, February 8, March 8, April 19, May 10

  • Time: 3:00–5:00 PM

  • Where: Randolph College — Martin Science Building Lobby

Each session features a guided exploration of a rich mathematical topic, small-group work, and time for discussion.

What Will Students Do?

Students will:

  • Explore topics rarely covered in school (graph theory, combinatorics, number theory, topology, probability, etc.)

  • Solve intriguing problems in groups

  • Develop creative reasoning and communication skills

  • Experience the collaborative, playful side of mathematics
